INTEGRATION OF CURRICULUM & MULTI-DISCIPLINARY APPROACH
"eTwinning Geocaching" Project bases on the topic of geocaching and it is connected with the issues of land orientation, and cultural and historical heritage values. The target language is English and as a result it is closely related to the English lesson and its curriculum.
The project gave us the opportunity to use the language in real and authentic contexts, practice grammar structures and speech acts, and learn new words. It enhanced the four skills; listening, speaking, reading and writing throughout various tasks. The students always interacted with each other while sharing their ideas in forums and working together in school or transnational team works. They aimed to complete the tasks and meanwhile they found chances to practice the language such as giving suggestions/advices, making plans, requesting/refusing/responding, explaining wishes, etc. In short, this project presented a very good platform for them to improve their language knowledge and skills. They learned to write essays, short and long comments, learning activities, descriptions, riddles, presentations, reports, etc. They had good practice in making oral presentations, reports, exchanging opinions during online meetings as well.
Moreover, this project is interrelated to some other school subjects such as languages, geography, history, culture studies, IT studies, mass media studies, literature, and sociology. To give example, in glossary task we integrated languages and culture studies; in National Treasure eBook we integrated geography, history, IT, mass media studies; while creating and solving riddles, we used geography, history, literature, sociology and culture studies. In short, it can be said that, this project is very well integration of multi-disciplinary approach.
